While we are firmly back in the routine of life, here are some photos from our last couple days in South Dakota. We traveled the state and stayed two nights in a cute 100 year old cabin just a couple miles from Mt Rushmore.
In a little while our Fredericksburg realtor will be coming over with the documents necessary to put our condo on the market.
Tomorrow we’ll travel to Ashland to meet our realtor there and sign documents to begin construction on our new house.
Wow.
This isn’t the first time we’ve built without first selling our current house. We got [...]
I do apologize for the high level of sarcasm in my last post. I’m not usually a mean person, but at this point, sleep is very important.
In other news, we have been talking about the possibility of moving. Again? you ask. I know, I know, we’ve moved a lot during our marriage already. [...]
Several weeks ago my father and I were interviewed by Catherine Amos of the Culpeper Star-Exponent. My dad had written about storm chasing near Culpeper and her Google Blog Search picked his post up.
We met at a Starbucks and talked for about an hour or so.
Today the paper published the article. There are a couple [...]
The good thing about being able to work while we were away was that I was able to keep tabs of what was going on and not miss much.
The bad thing about being able to work while we were away was that I knew what I was walking into.
Ugh.
However, this past trip put everything in [...]
It’s our last night in South Dakota. We’ve planned for and thought about this trip for so long - hard to believe it’s nearly over! Somehow I have a feeling that - in some capacity - we’ll be back. As Nathan has mentioned before, there is so much need in Standing Rock. Whether we come [...]
Kristen and I were very tired this morning. Breakfast did not happen. Kristen went on to the site while I stayed back to finish up some work. I left about 11:30 and headed for Little Eagle.
Now, there are two ways to Little Eagle: 1. You can swing north of it on US 12 at 65mph [...]
Yesterday was a good day. We started in Fort Yates, ND, then ran up to Cannon Ball, then came back to Bullhead. All three are very different communities. Fort Yates has about 2,000 people and is the tribal headquarters. They have a grocery store, taco restaurant, and gas station - yet strangely, no bank. Closest [...]
Just found this article that talks about the stepped up police efforts by the BIA at Standing Rock. We’ve seen quite a few patrol cars around, while at least 6 officers are stationed here at the hotel. The article talks about a lot of the problems on the 2.3 million acre reservation.
Another article discusses the [...]
Today we followed Bob and Judy to four out of the five sites to deliver dresses and shorts to the boys and girls. We didn’t make it to Cannon Ball as we ran out of time, so we’ll start there in the morning.
Churches all over the Roanoke Valley Baptist Association made dresses to give to [...]
