Wow, the last 6 weeks have been insane. Here’s a recap:
- Adjusting to life with an infant. Who knew he would change everything?
- Anderson’s doing very well. Growing like a weed and smiling all the time.
- WMUV Weekender went well and Kristen is very glad it’s over.
- The move took a lot out of us, but we were overwhelmed by the generosity of everyone that helped us to move.
- Our little house in Roanoke is cute, cozy, and exactly what we need.
- There’s something to be said for seeing mountains everyday. I like it.
- My new job is going well. I just finished my first week and am settling in. I am so used to doing ministry on the side - I can’t believe this is my full-time job!
Finally, here is a link to some new photos of Anderson over at Facebook. Enjoy!
The past few days have been exhausting. I made two runs down to Roanoke Friday and Saturday to alleviate some stress for the big move. Thank you Jillian and Dad for accompanying me. Moving plus launching websites can be a lot of work!
Anderson met one of his great-grandmothers Saturday. Our family drove to Locust Grove and met my paternal grandmother. He was asleep for most of it but was still really cute. We’ve asked a lot of him lately with all of our comings and goings yet he’s taken it all in stride. Next Monday he’ll meet his other great-grandmother, my maternal grandmother.
This week I’ll focus on one big web project along with continuing to pack. Kristen has Weekender next weekend and will be consumed with last minute details. After that everything will be dedicated to getting ready for Roanoke.
Pictures and a video will be posted within the next few days… some are already on Facebook. (*hint for those who haven’t joined!)
So… not sure why Facebook all of a sudden won’t let non-Facebook users view videos here. Since they’re recorded in high definition, the videos take awhile to upload. I may post future videos to YouTube.
Some random thoughts and updates for those who want a quick diversion from work:
The timing wouldn’t have allowed it, but I should have started free-lancing earlier. It’s a ton of fun, I set my own schedule, and I’m making great friends and contacts. Already a couple projects are under my belt (or very nearly so: www.newchurchreport.com, www.belmontbaptistcville.org, www.chestnutgrovebaptist.org) with a couple of exciting ones still in the works.
Anderson’s doing well. He’s still a bit restless at night, but he’s sleeping for longer stretches. I tell you what, the boy can also chug some milk. Wow.
We’re gearing up for a busy weekend. Friday we’re going to the first session of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of Virginia meeting. Saturday we’re heading up to Crossroads up in the mountains for a meeting for Kristen’s work. Either later that day or on Sunday, we’ll head down to Roanoke so Kristen can see our new house.
After this weekend the focus is on packing. I hope to make a few trips with small items so the big day isn’t that big.
We’re really excited about moving to Roanoke and how God’s working in our lives.
Here are some pictures after bath time last night. You would think we were torturing him with how he screams during it, but I assure you we are not. Perhaps it’s good that he won’t remember this time.
It’s not too exciting, but here’s a video of Anderson in action:
Kristen and I are starting to get some semblance of a routine. I cover late night and most of the day time shifts while she covers overnight.
We’ve gone out to Target once with Anderson, taken him to a park, and taken him on several walks both in the mall and outside. Today we visited my co-workers at the Marine Corps Association. He was awake for most everyone, but definitely peed on my next-door neighbor.
Anderson seems to have hit his first growth spurt within the past day or so. He’s eating a bit more frequently and seems to have filled out a bit. He definitely lets you know when he’s hungry!
I’ve enjoyed being at home away from work - I got that sinking feeling when I checked my work email real quick: 258 unread emails.
Overall we’re doing very well. I have to tell myself that we won’t get back to “normal” - we just have to redefiine it.
You've found the home of Nathan and Kristen. This is simply our one-stop space to post photos and random thoughts. We're also on Facebook so make sure you look for us there.
